Deaths of church members felt in Baychester

BAYCHESTER - Congregants of a Baychester church are mourning the loss of their pastor and fellow parishioners killed in an accident in upstate New York.

Authorities say Bishop Simon White, his wife and minister Zelda White of Joy Fellowship Christian Assemblies were among at least six people who died when a van flipped over yesterday on the New York State Thruway.

The church's website says Bishop White founded the church in 1998. He later helped establish affiliate congregations elsewhere in the state.

AP wire services were used in this report.
