NORWOOD - Residents near Pelham Parkway are excited about the expected completion of a long-term construction project to revitalize the neighborhood. For more than a decade, the city has been working on a $36 million redevelopment plan in the area. Improvements include redone roadways, a new water main, and new curbs, sidewalks and catch basins. "We're worried about the money being in there for the project to be completed," community leader Vinny Prezioso says. "But I'm ecstatic. It took a lot of hard work and we spoke to a lot of people." Pedestrians and drivers say, despite the detours, increased traffic and limited parking, they are looking forward to the final result. "It is an inconvenience, but you have to be knowledgeable of what the bigger picture is," another resident says. The Department of Design and Construction says work should be completed by next summer.
