NEW YORK - The man accused of fatally shooting a young NYPD officer in Queens appeared before a judge Thursday. 

According to police, 35-year-old Demetrious Blackwell fired a gun as Officer Brian Moore and his partner approached him last Saturday, hitting Moore in the face. 

The 25-year-old officer died two days later. 

Blackwell is facing murder charges and could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
