MOTT HAVEN - Police say the father of a 5-year-old boy who shot himself Friday is facing charges.

Denny Pantoja is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering a child. Pantoja's son accidentally shot himself in the shoulder while playing around with Pantoja's illegal gun. Initially, police believed the boy's 11-year-old brother accidentally shot him.

The 5-year-old boy is listed in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital.
