New data shows the borough’s unemployment rate at 12 percent for February.

THE BRONX - New unemployment numbers are out, and the borough still has the highest rate in all of New York State.

According to the Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in February of this year was at 12 percent, which is half a percentage lower than it was in February of 2013.

The citywide unemployment rate is at 7.9 percent for February, which is down from 8.9 percent last year.

Fortunately there are promising new developments in the Bronx. The new Bay Plaza Mall, the Kingsbridge Ice Center and FreshDirect are all expected to provide local job opportunities.
