THE BRONX - The Department of Sanitation has a full fleet of workers out clearing the streets citywide, but roads remain treacherous.

The sanitation commissioner says there are nearly 500 salt spreaders and just under 1,800 plows tackling the snowy roadways, but admits there's still a lot of work to do because it's difficult to keep up with the rapid snowfall.

The Department of Sanitation says the snow cleanup will take a long time and they may not reach some areas until Tuesday.

Everyone is reminded to take it slow and be careful as there are sheets of ice underneath much of the fresh snow.

Residents can also track snowplows in their neighborhoods by using the city's PlowNYC online tracking tool.
