THE BRONX - The city's Department of Transportation is planning a major overhaul at a deadly intersection in Jerome Park.
A recent DOT study names Bailey Avenue and Albany Crescent among the top three most dangerous intersections in the borough, seeing a slew of vehicular crashes. Four pedestrians have been severely injured and one has been killed since 2007.
Proposed safety changes include adding a pedestrian island, relocating the crosswalk, installing parking lane stripes and reversing traffic flow between Albany Crescent and West 231st Street.

Officials are working with the local community board to implement the makeover. Members say they hope the improvements happen soon, especially since there are two schools nearby and no crossing guards at the corner.
