SOUTH BRONX - Local developers are working with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. in hope of redeveloping the South Bronx waterfront.

Similar to Brooklyn Bridge Park overlooking Lower Manhattan, the waterfront would be overlooking Upper Manhattan.

Philip Moro, with the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation, is conducting studies with Diaz's office to see if the area can be redeveloped. The area between the Willis Avenue and 149th Street bridges was rezoned a few years ago and can now house residential and business properties. Moro also hopes to create an esplanade along the water.

The planning is still in the early stages of the project, which would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to complete.
