THE BRONX - Diabetes is an epidemic that continues to plague residents in the Bronx.

The latest report from the New York City Health Department says that of the 10 community districts with the highest rates of diabetes in the city, five are located in the Bronx.

Mott Haven has the highest rates of diabetes-related deaths in the Bronx.

Officials at Montefiore Medical Center say they are working with Bronx residents to teach them how to manage and prevent diabetes, including how to eat healthy and stay on top of medication.
