PARKCHESTER - People from many faiths came together to help beautify the shared space inside the Masjid al Iman Cultural Center in Parkchester today.

The center opened its doors to the Orthodox Jewish community in Parkchester, which had no other place to pray. They have been sharing the space, a synagogue inside of a mosque, since 2009.

Students from Manhattan College, a Catholic school, joined members of the Muslim and Jewish community to restore Beis Mechem synagogue.

The volunteers will return to finish the job on May 12.
