THE BRONX - A disabled Bronx woman says she and her family are being forced back on the streets by the homeless program that first took them in.

According to Debra Burgos, she and her son Michael found a place to live as part of the Department of Homeless Service's (DHS) fixed-income advantage program, which pays for a tenant's rent for up to two years or until they are accepted into Section 8.

Burgos says her two years is up in May, but she isn't being offered Section 8. She says she has no options left with Social Security as her only source of income and inability to work due to her failing health.

News 12 The Bronx reached out to DHS for comment, but hasn't heard back.
