Donated quilts to provide warmth for homeless families

THE BRONX - Quilters from all over the U.S. and Canada are donating handmade blankets to a Bronx homeless shelter.

The quilts will be given to 50 families at one of BASICS/Promesa Systems' residences for the homeless. The houses provide transitional support for the homeless, housing for low-income families and specialized treatment.

The families say the quilts are cheery and will be a welcome addition in their homes.
