HUNTS POINT - A heavily trafficked roadway that's been the scene of more than 100 accidents is about to see some safety improvements.

Bruckner Boulevard and Hunts Point Avenue is a very busy intersection. Department of Transportation officials say there have been 263 accidents between 2009 and 2013.

That's why the DOT plans to make improvements to Bruckner Boulevard. The improvements include extending the sidewalk and adding bike lanes. 

Community Board 2 members are also proposing the addition of dual turn signals on Longwood Avenue. They would also like to see crossing guards put in place in the busy area.

The project is expected to start in the summer and be completed in three to four months.
