THE BRONX - A dimly lit area in Belmont prone to car vandalism may soon be getting better lighting.

The city’s Department of Transportation says it received a request for additional lighting from Community Board 6 late last week and will conduct a lighting study in the area.

Residents say the problem has persisted along Southern Boulevard near the Bronx Zoo.

There was no word on when the study would take place. The issue is expected to be discussed during the City Council’s next transportation committee meeting slated for March 6.
