Dozens gather to protest Community Board budget cuts

BRONX - Community leaders held a rally to voice their concern over Mayor Michael Bloomberg?s proposed fiscal budget for 2011.

Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., local officials and community board members gathered Monday on the steps of the Bronx Supreme Court to protest the cuts.

Leaders say the budget cuts take away approximately $62,000 forcing them to eliminate positions and reduce services to the community.

Participants at the rally signed a petition opposing the cuts. If the budget is passed, the cuts would go into effect on July 1.
