THE BRONX - A Bronx professor is receiving special recognition for her work both inside and outside the classroom.

Dr. Lisa Rizopolous was recently named among the 25 most influential women in the borough by the Bronx Times, an honor that doesn't surprise her students.

Rizopolous has been a professor at Manhattan College for the past 18 years, which she says has fulfilled her lifelong dream to be a teacher.

The longtime educator just returned from a trip to Italy where she and several students taught reading and delivered books. She says that giving back is what she lives and breathes, and she is thankful for both her family at home and her family at school.
