THE BRONX - A drastic rent hike will go into effect next week at the largest rental complex in The Bronx. Tenants at Tracey Towers will get slapped with a significant rent increase over the next four years, and residents say they're especially worried about seniors and individuals on fixed incomes. Many say they've been fighting the hike for a while, even in court. Tenants say management told them the increase is to keep up with costs and repairs, but the buildings are kept in poor condition. Tenants say the management company offered them rent vouchers, but claim they were denied when they applied for them. The new hike will take effect Nov. 1. Until then, tenants say they're going to spend their time and energy continuing to fight against the rent hike.
