Edgar Allen Poe cottage in Fordham opens to public

FORDHAM - An historic home along the Grand Concourse is finally open to visitors after nearly a year of renovations. The cottage is the former home of poet Edgar Allen Poe, and is now open to the public after a $2 million renovation. The walls, floors and ceiling have all been replaced, and project organizers say they are looking forward to tourists' response. "It's important to have this house located in Fordham to remind people, especially people coming from other countries, that there is a rich history in The Bronx," says Angel Hernandez, of the Bronx Historical Society. The home is open to the public on weekends and to school tour groups during the week.
