THE BRONX - The Bronx sends more teens to juvenile detention than any other location in New York, but now many youths have an alternative.
The YouthLink Program was set up to house troubled young people as an alternative to incarceration. The program helps the teens by providing mandatory counseling, tutoring and paid summer jobs.
Officials say more than 60 percent of city teens released from prison are rearrested within two years. YouthLink workers say sending troubled kids away doesn't take care of the problem.
Patrick Weller, 16, has been arrested three times and served seven months in prison upstate, but is now one of the teens turning his life around with help from YouthLink.
