Education Dept. offers transportation options as bus strike looms

With a citywide school bus strike looming, the Department of Education has taken several steps to help parents get their kids to and from school.

THE BRONX - With a citywide school bus strike looming, the Department of Education has taken several steps to help parents get their kids to and from school. MetroCards will be issued to students who rely on yellow bus service, and the parents of children in kindergarten through second grade can also request MetroCards. The parents of special-needs students have the same option. Parents who drive or rely on taxi service can apply for transportation cost reimbursement.
