THE BRONX - The New York City Housing Authority and a maintenance crew are working to clean up an elderly woman's Bronx home after it was flooded with raw sewage this morning.

According to Bertha Canton, sewage has been spewing out of her toilet and filling her apartment with a terrible stench since around 2 a.m. She says more than a foot of dirty water has destroyed her carpet and furniture.

Canton says it took several e-mails and phone calls before crews began working on repairs. Social Services workers are also providing housing support.
