THE BRONX - Some students at Emolior Academy have traded in their textbooks for Sony e-readers to do some high-tech learning.
Sixth-graders at the school have been learning on the devices all year. Each student has their own e-reader, which can hold up to 1,500 books.
City Councilman Joel Rivera (D-District 15) says he helped jump-start the pilot program with a $20,000 grant from the city.
Principal Derick Spaulding says he's hoping to get another grant to buy e-readers for the entire school by next fall.
So far, students are using them in English and science classes.
