THE BRONX - An FDNY emergency medical technician (EMT) is recovering at the hospital after being shot by a BB gun this morning at the intersection of East 163rd Street and Intervale Avenue in Longwood.

Authorities say a 15-year-old Bronx teenager was taken away in handcuffs after he shot a BB gun out of his third-floor window Thursday afternoon.

Police say one of those BBs struck an EMT who was in the passenger seat of an FDNY ambulance. They say the technicians were responding to the scene when one of them was struck under the arm.

At this time authorities do not believe the EMTs were targeted.
