THE BRONX - Bronx residents spent the day Saturday learning about the animals and foliage that call the Bronx River home.

Scientists and “Citizen Science Stewards” from the Bronx River Alliance held an event to teach people about the river.

The event is part of the Wade into the River program, which encourages anyone who's interested to learn more about this part of the borough.

Participants were taught everything from the history of the river to its current inhabitants.
