THE BRONX - Families in a Hunts Point homeless shelter are being given more time to relocate.
Residents at the Intervale Avenue shelter say they received a letter from the Department of Homeless Services Monday giving them just 24 hours to move out.
However, residents now have until at least Friday to pack up their belongings after state Sen. Ruben Diaz and Assemblyman Marcos Crespo protested the short-notice eviction.
The Department of Homeless Services says the shelter is being closed because the landlord no longer wants to partner with the city agency.
The department is now trying to find housing within 3 miles of the shelter for the 37 families living there.
