NEW YORK - Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to spend every night in your kitchen.

If you want to go out, experts recommend buying a gift card to your favorite restaurant at a discounted rate.

Experts reccomend using gift card websites like Giftcards.com or Restaurants.com to purchase your cards.

In most cases, they say you can purchase a $25 gift card to your favorite restaurant without having to pay the full amount.

Experts also recommend doing your research and asking for deals.

Many times kids, seniors and members of the military can eat for free.

Also, plan to eat out on special days and take the whole family for better deals.

If you end up leaving a lot of food on your plate, experts recommend you ask your server for lunch-sized portions.

Typically it's cheaper while also being filling.

The last tip experts say is to follow your favorite restaurant on social media because it's the first place restaurants announce deals or sales.
