THE BRONX - Doctors and parents are giving a few tips on how to keep children safe when playing with toys.

Aside from choosing the right toy based on age, experts say parents should keep tabs on a toy long after it's purchased. They say it's important to check the toy for wear and tear, small pieces coming off and sharp edges becoming exposed over time.

A few toy types that may require extra caution are toys with sharp and/or pointy edges, toys with moving parts and toys that shoot little foam bullets.

Experts say one of the most important things is to always keep an eye on your children while they're playing, especially when they're young.
