BUFFALO - (AP) - New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo saysa new initiative will make it harder for people to use socialnetworking sites to share child pornography.

Cuomo says Facebook and MySpace have agreed to use a database ofdigital image codes newly developed by New York investigators tohelp block the posting of child porn. The 8,000 images currently inthe database is relatively small compared to the number of imageson the Internet. But Cuomo said Thursday more will be added as lawenforcement agencies contribute digital fingerprints, or "hashvalues."

Cuomo is urging 13 other social networking sites to use thedatabase as well.

Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes says cases of child porn on thesite are rare, but immediately reported to authorities.
