THE BRONX - Calls are being made for a criminal investigation into a police-involved accident that left one teen dead and another paralyzed.

In October, a cop car collided with a dirt bike, killing 20-year-old Ronald Herrera and causing severe brain injuries to 17-year-old Leonel Cuevas. Their families are now asking The Bronx district attorney to investigate if the officer behind the wheel used her patrol car as a deadly weapon.

The officer in question says she was not chasing the dirt bike before the crash, but the families say the story does not add up. The official police report says the crash occurred when Herrerra "attempted to overtake" the officer's vehicle. Witnesses described a different scenario.

The Bronx District Attorney's Office says it has received the request. Calls to the NYPD have gone unreturned.
