SCHUYLER TERRACE - Families displaced after a two-alarm fire consumed their homes in Throggs Neck on Sunday are now trying to salvage what they can.
Officials say the flames broke out at 9 Schuyler Terrace at around 6 p.m., and quickly spread to six other residences all located in close quarters. Four of those homes were completely destroyed by the fire.
The Red Cross is assisting the affected families. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Insurance representatives were on the scene Monday to see the damage. A representative from state Sen. Jeffrey Klein's office was there as well. Members of the community are talking about organizing a benefit concert at the end of the month.
