MOTT HAVEN - A grieving family is asking for the public's help in finding the suspect who killed a 27-year-old man early this morning.

Relatives say Samuel Gonzalez, who would have turned 28 in a few days, went for a walk last night and never came home.

Police say they responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday in front of 400 Brook Ave., where they found Gonzalez with gunshot wounds to his torso. His was promptly taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gonzalez's family and friends say he loved racing dirt bikes and spending time with his nieces and nephews. His sister, Juanita, says he isn't the first person in their family who lost their life to violence.

Anyone with information on Gonzalez's killing is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
