Family identifies contractor who fell off Throgs Neck Bridge

THE BRONX - Family members have identified the worker who fell off the Throgs Neck Bridge this morning, but MTA officials say the man is presumed to be dead.

Relatives say John Massas lived in The Bronx with his wife and three children. His mother-in-law says this was his second day on this particular job, and that he had been working in construction for around 10 years.

According to the MTA, the worker was on a platform under the bridge when he slipped and fell into the water.
