THE BRONX - Family members of a victim killed after a man plowed his car into them on Halloween last year opened up for the first time since the driver's indictment this week.

Kristjan Leka, Louis Perez and Nyanna Aquil died and several others were injured when a car jumped the curb on Morris Park Avenue and crashed into a group of trick-or-treaters.

Police arrested Howard Unger, 53, this week. Investigators say he has epilepsy and was off his medication at the time of the crash. Unger faces several counts of criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter and assault.

"My feeling is worse than it was before, because now I know it was a mistake from the driver; and I'm sure he never did it on purpose to my son," says Martin, Leka's father. "For a mistake he did, I'm happy that he's going to serve his time in jail."

The family members of 10-year-old Nyanna Aquil posted a photo on Facebook. "I miss my dad and Nyanna so much," the caption reads. "This picture was taken on Father's Day last year...these are the memories I cherish now that they're both gone."

Unger was arraigned Wednesday in Bronx Supreme Court.
