THE BRONX - A fast-moving three-alarm fire this morning destroyed a home in Soundview and damaged two others.

Fire officials say the flames engulfed 1225 Taylor Ave. before jumping to the two neighboring houses.

Officials tell News 12 that the home where the fire started was occupied by squatters who left the scene once the fire erupted at around 7 a.m.

A neighbor who saw the flames this morning says she rushed into one of the burning adjacent buildings, which has a day care center. She says there were close to eight children in the building at the time of the fire.

The Red Cross is providing emergency relief to 20 children and 17 adults who are now unable to return to their homes.

No residents were hurt, but one firefighter was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries.
