Fatal Bronx River Parkway accident probed

THE BRONX - Police say a distracted driver may be to blame for a fatal crash on the Bronx River Parkway that killed two off-duty NYPD officers.

Officials say the officers were killed and four women were injured after the car they were riding in hit a guard rail early yesterday morning. The four women are being treated at Jacobi Medical Center.

The family attorney for the four women says his clients claim the driver had been drinking before they got into his car.

The medical examiner says it could take weeks before toxicology results are released.
