THE BRONX - A judge denied bail Thursday at the arraignment of the Bronx man accused of murdering his pregnant daughter.

William Caruth, 61, faces charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Andrea Caruth.

Police say Caruth strangled his 39-year-old, pregnant daughter and stuffed her body in a crawlspace inside their Baychester home at 3242 Corsa Ave.

She had been reported missing Monday, but her boyfriend had last seen her a day earlier. Police discovered her body Wednesday morning in the basement of the home, where her father lived.

Prosecutors say Caruth has prior convictions, one sealed and the other for criminal mischief.

The victim died from head trauma and strangulation, according to the city’s medical examiner.

Investigators say Caruth dug a hole in a basement closet and hid his daughter's body there under plywood.

Lincoln Grant, the victim's boyfriend of 10 years, also lived in the home. He was not charged with any wrongdoing.

Investigators are still examining the crime scene.

Caruth’s next court date could be as early as next week.
