BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - A Manhattan firefighter is suing the FDNY after he was allegedly sexually assaulted in a hazing ritual.

The lawsuit filed by Gordon Springs, of Ladder 35, claims the hazing is not an isolated incident and is embedded in the culture of firehouses all over New York City.

Defense attorney Paul Liggier says Springs was "retaliated against and made a pariah of the fire department" after he spoke out against the alleged incident.

"We must change the culture of the fire department when it comes to discrimination and hazing," says Liggier.

The FDNY told News 12 that hazing is prohibited conduct and that the department will seriously investigate and discipline anyone who engages in or allows hazing of any employee.
