Fiery crash on Bruckner Blvd. leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

THE BRONX - A car burst into flames after being hit by a tractor-trailer on Bruckner Boulevard early Wednesday morning, leaving one woman dead and three people injured.

A person at the scene says a car with three passengers was parked near Throgs Neck Bridge when a tractor-trailer, bearing the name Grocery Haulers, Inc., slammed into it.

According to the witness, the car flipped over the median and caught fire.

One women in the car died and two other passengers were hurt, one of them seriously. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the accident, northbound traffic was shut down for several hours as the site of the crash was cleared.

According to a source, because of the location and the time of the accident, investigators are struggling to find witnesses that can help them get a clear picture of what happened.

Grocery Haulers, Inc., whose name was on the side of the tractor-trailer, has yet to release a statement.
