A five-month gas hiatus at 1072 Finlay St. was caused by a leak that sparked Con Ed to suspend service.

THE BRONX - A South Bronx housing development building has been without gas for five months, residents say.

A gas leak in October caused Con Edison to shut off service at 1072 Findlay St. The Housing Preservation Department has cited the building owner for not providing gas while its contractors have been denied access inside.

The building owner says he filed paperwork immediately to begin restoring the gas, but the housing department was very slow on clearing management to reconnect the service. He gave tenants a small heater for the time being.

The owner of Findlay Management says they have been cleared by the housing department for an inspection and can begin work on restoring the gas, which should be back by April.
