Fire at Russian Embassy in Riverdale probed

RIVERDALE - Hazmat agents and FDNY officials investigated a suspicious fire at the Russian Embassy in Riverdale Saturday.

Authorities were called after a fire broke out in a shed on the embassy grounds at around 2:45 p.m. Officials say at the time of the fire there was no one inside the shed where lawnmowers and other equipment are being stored.

Hazmat agents were brought in to investigate suspicious fluids found in barrels on the grounds, officials say. According to the Hazmat agents, the suspicious fluids did not catch fire.

Embassy officials were cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities say there are no reported injuries.
