THE BRONX - A massive fire nearly destroyed a Bronx church early this morning.

Officials say 170 firefighters battled the flames at the Love Gospel Assembly on the Grand Concourse that started around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the fire started on the first floor and burned all the way up to the top floor, destroying the church and damaging a shelter next door.

The church also has a food pantry, which officials say they will still run.
