Fire ravages Tremont bodega, apartments

THE BRONX - Four firefighters were injured in an overnight fire that destroyed a bodega and damaged several apartments in Tremont.

EMS officials say the fire started at around 1:30 a.m. at La Bonita Deli Grocery at the corner of Ryer Avenue and East 183rd Street. The flames then spread to the second floor.

The bodega owner's daughter, Melissa Melo, says her family had run the store for the last eight years, and now it's gone.

The cause is the fire is being investigated.
