MONTEFIORE - As millions watched the ball drop on Times Square, a Bronx family is beginning the new year with a brand new bundle of joy.

Alia Ali gave birth to a daughter, Rania, the first baby born in New York City in 2012.

Alia says her daughter's name means "queen" in Arabic and that she was treated like royalty with a special Happy New Year basket from Montefiore Medical Center.
