A Bronx man fell to his death from a courtyard fire escape while fleeing from police.

THE BRONX - A Bronx man fell to his death from a courtyard fire escape while fleeing from police.

Devon Wade, 28, fell five stories from 2159 Morris Ave. while trying to jump to the neighboring building, police say.

Officers were attempting to arrest him on an outstanding warrant on fraud charges dating back to 2013. Police say Wade had 19 prior arrests, but his mother says they were all for petty offenses.

Lisa Wade says her son was rebuilding his life after recently obtaining a new job and weighing his options for going back to school.

She says she's not sure why he jumped and accuses police of scaring him.
