Fleet Week helps Bronx kids learn about fitness

THE BRONX - Sailors and Navy SEALs are helping Bronx kids get into shape and learn about fitness as a part of Fleet Week, which kicked off with a parade of military vessels sailing up the Hudson River today.

At the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, children received a special visit from service members. About 100 participants from the club got the chance to dance to music from a Navy band, ask questions to Navy and Coast Guard officers, and participate in a fitness challenge with Navy SEAL members.

Fleet Week ends on Memorial Day with a military flyover honoring American service members who lost their lives in service.

The public can enjoy ship tours and performances during the six-day celebration and activities aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
