PELHAM PARKWAY - New York City food pantries say they're struggling to keep up with demand following cuts to the food stamp program.

At the Jewish Community Council Food Pantry in Pelham Parkway, executive director David Edelstein says they've ended up giving out less food to families, or even turning people away because of higher demand.

Since Congress made cuts to the food stamp program in November, Edelstein says they've seen an increase in families visiting the food pantry.

Edelstein says their pantry is seeking donations to help them stay open.
