Fordham food stamp center in hot water over long lines

THE BRONX - Bronx residents who rely on public assistance are complaining about extremely long lines at the Fordham food stamp center every weekday.

Neighbors say they often see ambulances outside the center responding to people who pass out while waiting in the heat for up to two hours. The line begins to form as early as 5 a.m.

This morning, food stamp recipients say the service at the center was faster, but the treatment is still poor.

The city's Human Resources Administration was not available for comment on the matter.
