THE BRONX - A group of students from Fordham High School of the Arts took center stage for a chance to perform on the Great White Way.

Twenty young actors participated in one stage of the August Wilson Monologue Competition. Three winners will go on to the citywide performance faceoff in March, which will then send top performers to the national competition on Broadway.

The actors each performed two- or three-minute monologues from renowned African-American playwright August Wilson. Judges ranked them on physical presentation and emotional connectedness.

National winners will receive prizes that include scholarships and cash.
