FORDHAM - A quick-thinking tenant managed to stop a robbery at his Fordham apartment two days before Christmas.

Michael Ascencio, 24, says his parents were the only ones home at their apartment on Davidson Avenue when two men pretending to be UPS workers tried to break in. Ascencio says one of the suspects was holding an empty box and trying to break in, so his father opened the door and told them they had the wrong address. When he saw the suspect look down the stairs to someone else, Ascencio says his father noticed something wasn't right.

Ascencio says the two suspects then tried to force their way into the apartment, but ran off when his father screamed for his mother to call the police.

Police say one suspect is Hispanic, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. The other suspect is black, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. Police say both suspects are in their 20s.
