Fordham section a near ghost town ahead of hurricane

As Hurricane Irene enters the city, many people have heeded the warnings and either evacuated or at least stayed off the streets as the storm

THE BRONX - As Hurricane Irene enters the city, many people have heeded the warnings and either evacuated or at least stayed off the streets as the storm bears down upon the area.

The Fordham section of The Bronx was a near ghost town. For the most part, the only vehicles on the road were police cars and other city vehicles.

Businesses along the street have also closed down and boarded up in anticipation of the storm.
